Dust Control Management Strategy -The 4DS Approach

With dust generation being inevitable in bulk material handling facilities, and being a constant challenge, it is necessary to have a consistent approach to tackle this daily nuisance in order to achieve the benefits of dust control. A system alone cannot ‘gulp’ all the dust generated and neither can a ‘maintenance team’ whose basic priority is to keep the plant running, can be expected to address dust generation fully. The need is better understanding of the factors responsible for dust generation and a dedicated approach to resolving these issues on a continuous basis, thereby creating a practical occupational, health and safety policy in action while dealing with fugitive dust nuisance.

The entire view and aim of the 4DS Approach is for ‘DUST’ or Particulate Matter (PM) especially in the Respirable Range PM10 and below to be taken seriously as a pollutant among other air pollutants, and for a visible compliance in the efforts towards the same.
